Richard struck out six, ending the game with a 4.84 ERA and 1.53 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Richard carved up a soft Phillies lineup to notch his first victory since June 13, ending a stretch of 10 winless starts. The left-hander figures to face a tougher test when he faces the surging Cardinals on the road next Tuesday. He's just 1-5 in 12 starts away from home.

Richard struck out five, ending the game with a 5.40 ERA and 1.61 WHIP on the season.

Richard struck out eight, ending the game with a 5.37 ERA and 1.61 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Richard has a 9.87 ERA in three starts since the All-Star break, but what's even more absurd is his 37 hits allowed in 17 1/3 innings. He can't get anybody out.

Analysis: Richard has been awful at Petco Park lately, going 0-2 with a 9.39 ERA in his last three starts there.

Richard struck out three, ending the game with a 4.85 ERA and 1.51 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Richard's inconsistency makes him a pitcher to avoid in fantasy. He has a 6.07 ERA in his last five starts.
June 26 10:13 AM PT11:13 AM MT12:13 PM CT1:13 PM ET13:13 ET17:13 GMT1:13 10:13 AM MST12:13 PM EST12:43 PM VEN21:13 UAE12:13 PM CT-Clayton Richard allowed five runs on nine hits and two walks in 5.1 innings as the San Diego Padres lost to the Detroit Tigers 7-5 on Sunday. Richard struck out three, ending the game with a 4.42 ERA and 1.44 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Richard makes his next start Saturday against the Dodgers, and in his last start against them on May 6 at Petco Park, he permitted five runs, seven hits and a career high-tying six walks in five innings of a 10-2 loss.
June 20 9:16 PM PT10:16 PM MT11:16 PM CT12:16 AM ET0:16 ET4:16 GMT12:16 9:16 PM MST11:16 PM EST11:46 PM VEN8:16 UAE11:16 PM CT-Clayton Richard allowed two runs on five hits and three walks in 6.1 innings as the San Diego Padres lost to the Chicago Cubs 3-2 on Monday. Richard struck out three, ending the game with a 4.20 ERA and 1.41 WHIP on the season.
June 14 9:54 PM PT10:54 PM MT11:54 PM CT12:54 AM ET0:54 ET4:54 GMT12:54 9:54 PM MST11:54 PM EST12:24 AM VEN8:54 UAE11:54 PM CT-Clayton Richard improved to 5-7, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks in 8.2 innings, as the San Diego Padres defeated the Cincinnati Reds 6-2 on Tuesday. Richard struck out six, ending the game with a 4.30 ERA and 1.42 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Richard carried a shutout into the ninth inning while winning for the third time in five starts, a stretch in which he's posted a solid 3.41 ERA and walked just four batters in 34 1/3 innings. The left-hander is 0-4 with a 5.45 ERA over his last six outings on the road, though, so he may not be a good play when he faces the Cubs in Wrigley Field on Monday.
June 8 4:31 PM PT5:31 PM MT6:31 PM CT7:31 PM ET19:31 ET23:31 GMT7:31 4:31 PM MST6:31 PM EST7:01 PM VEN3:31 UAE (+1)6:31 PM CT-Clayton Richard fell to 4-7, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk in 5.0 innings, as the San Diego Padres lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 15-3 on Thursday. Richard struck out five, ending the game with a 4.54 ERA and 1.45 WHIP on the season.
June 3 10:04 AM PT11:04 AM MT12:04 PM CT1:04 PM ET13:04 ET17:04 GMT1:04 10:04 AM MST12:04 PM EST12:34 PM VEN21:04 UAE12:04 PM CT-Clayton Richard improved to 4-6, allowing four runs - three earned - on 10 hits in 5.2 innings, as the San Diego Padres defeated the Colorado Rockies 8-5 on Friday. Richard struck out three, ending the game with a 4.36 ERA and 1.45 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Richard made a mid-game adjustment from sliders to fastballs and battled long enough to get credit for the win. However, he remains a poor fantasy option, having allowed 10 hits in three of his last four starts to push his opponent batting average to .307.
May 27 4:49 PM PT5:49 PM MT6:49 PM CT7:49 PM ET19:49 ET23:49 GMT7:49 4:49 PM MST6:49 PM EST7:19 PM VEN3:49 UAE (+1)6:49 PM CT-Clayton Richard fell to 3-6, allowing three runs on 10 hits and one walk in 6.0 innings, as the San Diego Padres lost to the Washington Nationals 3-0 on Saturday. Richard struck out five, ending the game with a 4.33 ERA and 1.43 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Richard wasn't quite as sharp as his previous outing, when he fired a complete-game five-hitter in a 5-1 win over Arizona. That's the lefty's lone victory over a seven-start stretch in which the Padres have totaled nine runs with him on the mound.
May 22 8:41 AM PT9:41 AM MT10:41 AM CT11:41 AM ET11:41 ET15:41 GMT23:41 8:41 AM MST10:41 AM EST11:11 AM VEN19:41 UAE10:41 AM CT-Richard improved to 3-5, allowing one run on five hits in 9.0 innings, as the San Diego Padres defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-1 on Sunday. Richard struck out six, ending the game with a 4.31 ERA and 1.39 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: He matched the career-best five-hitter he threw on Aug. 8, 2012, at the Chicago Cubs.
May 17 10:48 AM PT11:48 AM MT12:48 PM CT1:48 PM ET13:48 ET17:48 GMT1:48 10:48 AM MST12:48 PM EST1:18 PM VEN21:48 UAE12:48 PM CT-Clayton Richard fell to 2-5, allowing six runs on 10 hits in 6.0 innings, as the San Diego Padres lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 6-2 on Tuesday. Richard struck out seven, ending the game with a 4.86 ERA and 1.53 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Though this poor outing came five days after he pitched seven innings of one-run ball at Texas, Richard is 0-3 with a 6.67 ERA in his last five starts.
May 12 9:00 AM PT10:00 AM MT11:00 AM CT12:00 PM ET12:00 ET16:00 GMT0:00 9:00 AM MST11:00 AM EST11:30 AM VEN20:00 UAE11:00 AM CT-Clayton Richard allowed one run on five hits and one walk in 7.0 innings as the San Diego Padres lost to the Texas Rangers 5-2 on Thursday. Richard struck out four, ending the game with a 4.34 ERA and 1.51 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Richard had racked up an 8.36 ERA and 0-2 mark in his previous three starts. The five hits Thursday tied for the fewest he's allowed this season.
May 7 9:59 AM PT10:59 AM MT11:59 AM CT12:59 PM ET12:59 ET16:59 GMT0:59 9:59 AM MST11:59 AM EST12:29 PM VEN20:59 UAE11:59 AM CT-Richard fell to 2-4, allowing five runs on seven hits and six walks in 5.0 innings, as the San Diego Padres lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-2 on Saturday.
Analysis: Richard struck out five, ending the game with a 4.87 ERA and 1.62 WHIP on the season.
May 1 8:13 AM PT9:13 AM MT10:13 AM CT11:13 AM ET11:13 ET15:13 GMT23:13 8:13 AM MST10:13 AM EST10:43 AM VEN19:13 UAE10:13 AM CT-Clayton Richard allowed two runs on six hits and one walk in 5.1 innings as the San Diego Padres defeated the San Francisco Giants 5-2 on Sunday. Richard struck out three, ending the game with a 4.29 ERA and 1.49 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Richard wrapped up the season's first month with unsurprisingly mediocre numbers, though the outlook for his next start appears more promising. The lefty next faces a Dodgers team he defeated in his April 4 season debut by firing eight shutout innings.
Apr. 26 11:00 AM PT12:00 PM MT1:00 PM CT2:00 PM ET14:00 ET18:00 GMT2:00 11:00 AM MST1:00 PM EST1:30 PM VEN22:00 UAE1:00 PM CT-Richard (2-3) was ripped for eight runs and six hits in 3 2/3 innings and walked three in a 9-3 loss to Arizona.
Analysis: He had held the Diamondbacks to one run in 6 2/3 innings five days earlier to get a win, but this time Richard didn't have his best stuff. "I don't know if it was so much command for him as much it was just not a lot of sink," San Diego manager Andy Green said. "It kind of forced him to pitch on the edge of the zone. I through he was a little flatter than usual."
Apr. 21 9:11 AM PT10:11 AM MT11:11 AM CT12:11 PM ET12:11 ET16:11 GMT0:11 9:11 AM MST11:11 AM EST11:41 AM VEN20:11 UAE11:11 AM CT-Richard improved to 2-2 on Thursday after giving up a run and nine hits in 6 2/3 innings against Arizona, walking none and striking out eight in a 4-1 victory.
Analysis: Richard has pitched at least six innings in all four of his starts, but he lost the previous two as he allowed a combined nine runs and four homers. He also walked five in those defeats, something he mentioned being the key Thursday in a pregame talk with his catcher. "I told Austin (Hedges) before the game that I wanted to throw a lot of strikes and get ahead in the count." Richard said.

Analysis: He's had two remarkably mediocre starts since opening with eight shutout innings against the Dodgers.

Apr. 5 9:22 AM PT10:22 AM MT11:22 AM CT12:22 PM ET12:22 ET16:22 GMT0:22 9:22 AM MST11:22 AM EST11:52 AM VEN20:22 UAE11:22 AM CT-Richard threw eight scoreless innings to beat the Dodgers on Tuesday as he kept them baffled with an assortment of off-speed pitches, which led to five strikeouts. He was touched for five singles and two walks.
Analysis: Richard wasn't really on the fantasy radar heading into this season, but that could soon change. "The way Clayton threw the baseball today was outstanding," manager Andy Green said. "He had command of his fastball, and his changeup was as good as I've seen." Maybe it wasn't a fluke considering that after he was signed the Padres in August, he posted a 2.41 ERA in nine starts.
