Flyers top Sens for fifth straight win

OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) Brandon Manning had a goal and two assists and the Philadelphia Flyers topped the Ottawa Senators 5-3 on Saturday for their fifth consecutive victory.

Ivan Provorov, Robert Hagg, Claude Giroux and Nolan Patrick also scored for the Flyers. Petr Mrazek made 25 saves in his second start for the Flyers since being acquired in a trade with Detroit.

Mike Hoffman, Ryan Dzingel and Matt Duchene scored for the Senators. Craig Anderson, who stopped 34 shots, lost his 20th game of the season.

Sabres sit Kane as trade deadline looms

WASHINGTON (AP) The Buffalo Sabres held out forward Evander Kane from Saturday night's matchup against the Washington Capitals.

Kane could be moved by Monday's NHL trade deadline.

Oilers trade D Davidson to Islanders

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) The Oilers traded defenseman Brandon Davidson to the New York Islanders for a 2019 third-round draft pick Saturday.

Davidson, 26, has three goals and two assists in 36 games with Edmonton and the Montreal Canadiens this season.

Leafs' Matthews out with shoulder injury

TORONTO (AP) Auston Matthews will miss the Toronto Maple Leafs' game Saturday night against Boston because of a shoulder injury.

"He's day-to-day," Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock said after practice Friday. "He'll get looked at more today, and then we'll know more about the day-to-day tomorrow."

Penguins rout 'Canes, win sixth straight

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) ��� The Pittsburgh Penguins made plenty of moves Friday night - on the ice, with the roster and in the standings.

Phil Kessel and Evgeni Malkin each had two goals and an assist and the Penguins moved into first place in the Metropolitan Division by routing the Carolina Hurricanes 6-1 for their season-best sixth straight victory.

Penguins get C Brassard in 3-team trade

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired center Derick Brassard from Ottawa on Friday night in a three-team deal that sent defenseman Ian Cole to Ottawa and forward Ryan Reaves to the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Penguins announced the deal Friday night during their 6-1 victory at Carolina, with Pittsburgh general manager Jim Rutherford calling it "the most complex trade I've made" because of salary cap issues and the involvement of a third team.

Hellebuyck stops 34 as Jets blank Blues

ST. LOUIS (AP) Connor Hellebuyck shut down the St. Louis Blues - again.

Hellebuyck made 34 saves for his sixth shutout of the season and Blake Wheeler and Kyle Connor each had a goal and an assist in the Winnipeg Jets' 4-0 victory Friday night.

Islanders F Bailey gets $30M for 6 years

NEW YORK (AP) Josh Bailey agreed to a six-year, $30 million deal Friday to stay with the New York Islanders instead of testing free agency this summer.

The 28-year-old forward, selected to his first All-Star appearance last month, has 15 goals and 47 assists this season - already setting career highs for assists and points (62). Bailey is tied for seventh in the league in assists and third on the Islanders in points, behind rookie Mathew Barzal (65) and captain John Tavares (64).

LAS VEGAS (AP) At the start of the NHL season, most figured the Vegas Golden Knights would be struggling heading into the final month and would be sellers at the trade deadline.

Instead, they're perched atop the league standings with 86 points, ahead of Eastern Conference-leading Tampa Bay, which has 85.

Granlund, Staal lead Wild by Rangers

NEW YORK (AP) The Minnesota Wild have been thriving lately on the road to keep pace in the Central Division. After smothering the Rangers 4-1, they completed a three-game sweep in the New York area.

Mikael Granlund and Eric Staal each scored twice and Devan Dubnyk made 22 saves in the Wild's victory over the free-falling New York Rangers on Friday night. The Wild also beat the Islanders on Monday night and New Jersey on Thursday night.
